Across the range of professional portraits and headshots, portraits may be captured in studio or on location with a traditional backdrop — gray, white, black, or another color. Some clients prefer, however, to have their portraits made in the context of an office or other location that helps tell their story. We call these environmental portraits. Take, for example, the surgeon writing a book about his medical career that began in the military and involved medical transports, where a plane and airstrip best illustrate the tale. Finally, both studio and environmental portraits may involve capturing a group.
